Permitted dimensions and axle loads in Kazakhstan
A special permit is required as soon as the loaded combination exceeds the permitted dimensions or mass. Here are the main limits and how to check them before loading.

Dimensions without a permit
- Width: 2.55 m, or 2.6 m for insulated bodies
- Height: 4 m, or 4.3 m for multimodal platforms carrying containers and swap bodies
- Combination length within the limit for its type
Mass and axles
Gross mass and the load on every axle and axle group are controlled, taking axle spacing into account. The same mass can be allowed on one combination and exceed the limit on another.

Orders No. 342 and No. 206 as amended on 25 April 2026, and Order No. 184 in force from 22 September 2026. We recheck parameters before every shipment.

What if it is only a few centimetres over?
A permit is still required: even a small excess needs one.
What does weighing check?
Gross mass and the load on axles and axle groups. No brand of scales is the only legal one; what matters is calibrated equipment and staying within limits.
What are the driving rules for oversize loads?
Outside built-up areas, daylight only and at reduced speed, slower still on bridges. Above 4.5 m, clearance checks under bridges and lines.
